Easter Egg Hunt at Night with Glow-in-the-Dark Eggs

This is most definitely are new favorite way to do an egg hunt. You can either host it the night before or Easter night. You can get glow-in-the-dark eggs or add mini glow sticks inside plastic eggs to create the magic. This is probably more suited for your older kids since they’ll be searching in the dark, but it’s a great way to make the holiday even more exciting.

Create a Golden Egg Hunt

If you’ve ever seen Willy Wonka, you’ll love this idea. You can hide one or two special golden eggs with a bigger prize inside. You could do a small toy, extra candy, or even a few dollars. We love this one because it adds an extra layer of fun and keep the kids hunting a little longer.

Puzzle Piece Easter Egg Hunt

When we came across this puzzle piece hunt, we absolutely loved it. Start by filling each egg with a small puzzle piece instead of candy. Once the kids find all the eggs, they can work together to complete the puzzle. How fun is that? This is a perfect way to add some teamwork alongside the competition.

Create a Rule to Make a Bunny Hop Hunt

This is an easy thing to add to any Easter egg hunt and turn it into an interactive game. It’s super simple -create a rule where kids have to hop like a bunny, do a little dance, or walk backward to their next egg. This keeps them moving and giggling the whole time.

Keep it Fair with a Color-Coded Hunt

If you have some kids who get a little extra competitive, assign each child a specific color of egg to find can help keep everyone in line. This will help make sure everyone gets an equal number of eggs and avoids little ones getting left out. It’s also a great idea if you have kids of different ages participating.

Create a DIY Treasure Map Egg Hunt

For older kids, create a simple treasure map with clues leading to the hidden eggs. You can use drawings or written hints to guide them to different spots in your yard or home.

Make a Themed Egg Hunt (Superheroes, Princesses, or Dinosaurs)

If you want to go one step further, you can create a themed hunt. You could hide tiny superhero figures, princess rings, or mini dinosaur toys in the eggs. Another fun way to do a theme is to have the kids dress up to match the theme.

Host a Reverse Egg Hunt

We have never heard of this before going on the “hunt” for ideas, but the idea is that instead of kids searching for eggs, let them hide the eggs for the grown-ups to find. This is a great new tradition to start and turn this into a fun family game.

Have a Backup Plan for Rainy Days

Of course, you always want a back up plan if it rains. If the weather isn’t cooperating, bring the hunt indoors. You can hide eggs in creative places like inside shoes, under cushions, in kitchen drawers. It will probablyy take more work for the kids to find them, but it will make up for not being able to run around outside.

Don’t Stress – The Classic Candy & Toy-Filled Egg Hunt Still Works

And don’t forget, if any of this stresses you out, you can’t go wrong with a classic egg hunt filled with candy, small toys, and stickers. Keep it simple, fun, and filled with surprises.
