What Makes This Strawberry Salad a Summer Favorite
We absolutely love this salad because it has simple ingredients that are super simple to prep ahead of time. It’s also perfect for picky eaters making it kid-approved and therefore, mom-friendly. When you can incorporate the natural sweetness of strawberries, it satisfies the sweet tooth need at the barbecue, picnic, or family dinner.
What You Need to Make It Work for You
The beauty of this salad recipe is that it’s super simple to prep everything ahead of time so you can simply line it all up assembly style and be on your way. We like to use a salad spinner to make sure the lettuce is crisp and dry. We also don’t add the dressing until right before we serve it to keep it fresh. If you want to add some crunch, we like adding in toasted nuts or seeds to make it super easy.
Easy Ingredient Swaps and Add-Ins
There are so many ways you can adjust this salad to make it fit your unique tastes. Some of our favorites are adding goat cheese or feta to make it a bit tangier. You could even mix your greens with spinach or chopped romaine. If you want this to be your main dish, you can easily add in some grilled chicken to get your protein or even toss in some other fruit like blueberries, blackberries, or mandarin oranges. And if you’e looking to mix it up, you can switch out the dressing for a drizzle of balsamic glaze or even poppyseed dressing too.
Kid-Friendly and Crowd-Ready
There are so many ways to make this salad, but depending on where you are bringing it and if kids are involved, you can adjust a few things, such as serving it in smaller bowls for little hands or picky eaters or even make a mini version in mason jars to easily grab and go. We always keep the dressing on the side when we are bringing it to parties in case someone doesn’t like the dressing. Regardless, keep in mind youru audience and avoid the nuts if it’s going to any school events or there might be people with nut allergies.
